DGS Health Recruitment

Recruitment Frequently Asked Questions

Want to find out more about DGS Health’s recruitment? We are often asked many questions regarding vacancies, the recruitment process, how to apply and many more. We have put together some of the most frequently asked questions to help answer any questions you may have regarding DGS Health recruitment.

Where is DGS Health located?

All of the locations we work out of are in the Dartford, Gravesham or Swanley area.

I have seen a role in DGS Health that I am interested in, how do I apply?

Applicants are usually advised on how to apply for a role on the job advert. However, in general, DGS Health request all interested applicants to send an up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV) and a cover letter clearly outlining how your qualifications, skills, experience, and knowledge meet the requirement of the advertised role.

What is the selection process in DGS Health?

Our selection process is divided into several phases.

Initially, we read all applications submitted to us and shortlist those applicants whose qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience match the specific requirements of the role.

In the next phase, we invite shortlisted applicants to interview. For some roles, we hold a second round of interviews. Please note that, dependent on the role, applicants may be required to undertake additional types of assessment (e.g. a timed task or a presentation) at any stage of the process.

What happens when I submit my application?

We will look through your application and, if you meet the requirements of the role, we will contact you with details of the next step.

Because we receive a high volume of applications for our roles, we are unable to contact applicants who have not been shortlisted. Applicants who have not heard from us six weeks following the closing date should assume that their application has, on this occasion, not been successful.

Is there a specific format for documents submitted as part of an application?

Applicants are advised to submit only documents with file formats .doc, .docx and .pdf. We are unable to consider documents submitted in a format that we cannot open or read.

Can I submit other documents that I believe are relevant?

Applicants are usually asked to submit two documents – their CV and covering letter. Where additional documents are needed, this will be communicated to applicants either on the advert or following the shortlisting process.

How long does the selection process normally take?

The selection process can take anything from four to 12  weeks, from beginning (posting a job advertisement) to end (selection and confirmation of the selected candidate).

When would I be informed of the outcome of the selection process?

The selection panel will inform all of the shortlisted applicants of the final decision soon after the end of the process. The type of role and number of shortlisted applicants will affect timescales. The final decision may be made in a few days or may take much longer. This will therefore affect when applicants are informed.

If I am successful, what other documents would be required by DGS Health?

There are a number of documents DGS Health is mandated to collect from successful applicants. Examples of these include: right to live and work in the UK, any qualifications required for the role, proof of relevant vaccinations etc.

Please be aware that DGS Health cannot engage anyone who does not have the relevant documentation.

What would happen if I succeeded in being offered a role with DGS Health?

DGS Health extends a conditional offer to the most suitable applicant for the role. Once the offer is accepted by the applicant, DGS Health undertakes pre-employment checks. These include the following: DBS check, references (from at least two work referees) and, where appropriate, the applicant’s registration status with the appropriate clinical body.

DGS Health will confirm the appointment following satisfactory pre-employment checks. In the event of the pre-employment checks being unsatisfactory, DGS Health may withdraw the offer.

What can I do if there are no job vacancies suitable for me, but I’d still like to demonstrate my interest in working for DGS Health?

You can send us a general application (CV and covering letter), indicating the role you would ideally like to undertake. Your application should be sent to dgshealth.hr@nhs.net. We will review your application and assess your general ‘organisational fit’.

If we consider you an appropriate potential candidate, we will keep your application on file for three months and, should a suitable vacancy arise, invite you to an interview.

I'm not looking for a full time role, is there any other work?

If you’re not looking for one of our full time roles on our vacancies page then you might consider joining our pool!
